Back to Checking the MLS Every Wednesday

The Eastern Monmouth MLS is working again. The number of houses listed as of today was 2864, which is up 9.1% from 2,625 on June 3rd.

Some experts have said that home buying generally takes a break once the summer starts and as a result inventories often rise in the summer months. I’m not sure if this is true or not, or it is just an excuse to hide a possibly deteriorating market.

Yes, housing usually slows down during the dog days because of vacations, etc. As I recall, the pickup in the Fall is a relative term. The activity is not normally anywhere near as active as the Spring, since families with school age children prefer the Spring, not the Fall to move. Also, people in the Spring just feel like going out to buy after the winter months.
