Concerned About Buying

I can’t help but think that high NYC apartment prices are helping inflate Jersey Shore housing prices. When two bedroom condos and co-ops in NYC going for over a million, it’s probably a no-brainer for a lot of city families to sell and move down to the ‘burbs where the public schools are only half as bad the public city schools. Maybe we’ll see prices in the city crack first before they do down here at the beach.

[Jennifer Yarbrough thinks she's picked a bad time for buying a home.

The expectant mother and her husband have been scouring Brooklyn's neighborhoods since moving from California two months ago.

But, with talk that a downward turn in housing prices could be just around the corner, she's worried their timing has not been great.

"Absolutely, I'm concerned about it," she said. "It certainly makes you hesitate when you see prices jump by $100,000 in only two months.

"Maybe that can continue, but I find it hard to believe that it can."]
