But does Lincroft lunch with Leonardo?

This is an older article from WierdNJ.com (scroll down to the big giant clown picture.) It will probably only be amusing for people that live in the area.

"Much thanks for your continued efforts on behalf of Middletown Township's beleaguered roadside icon, the Evil Clown of the former Food Circus. As one who grew up beneath the inscrutable scowl of this revolving metal monstrosity, I feel a personal stake in this matter.

For an old and cobbled-together highway that rambles and rattles its way from South Amboy to Seaside Heights with a gamut of scenery that ranges from the go-go bars of Sayreville and the chicken joints of Neptune City, to the stately homes of Bay Head and the ostentatious beach-mansions of Mantoloking, Route 35 has always fallen surprisingly short in the roadside architecture department. Middletown old-timers might recall the garish palms of the long-gone Oasis Diner, while the classic Flagship building up the road made a splash with generations of passersby. But the Clown lives on, wincing in rusty paralysis and forever wagging that red-tipped finger; a surprising survivor in a town that's always seemed a little too white, too Republican, too dag-nastedly MIDDLETOWN to dare show anything resembling a playful side to the rest of the world."
